The optical fiber at home #

A few days ago, Orange (a french internet provider) came to my flat to install an optical fiber. The chance to to leave the ADSL which is crappy even in the town center of Rennes to get some more serious performances as you can see on the screenshoot I made.

An opitcal fiber is a wire mad of glass, so the informations dont come by electricals signals but by light signal. This technology also offer a larger bandwidth.

So I currently having a 100Mb/s bandwidth. I made some speed tests using http://www.speedtest.net/ to compare my new offer to the old one.
